Sounds of Crete

Join us for a Cretan “parea” (gathering) to explore the sounds of Crete, sing along, and get ready to dance.
The trio of George Angelopoulos (mandolin, lavta), Simon Mercouris (Cretan laouto) and Miltos Boumis (Cretan laouto) is joined by Christos Angelidakis on the Cretan lyra, to perform songs from various regions of Crete. From the seated folk songs of the urban centers of the island, to the traditional melodies and dance rhythms that characterize the celebratory feasts of the rural Cretan sea-side and mountain regions, we have picked a programme which speaks to our soul.
